Reaction on Project Crumbs

The contents vary from personal mishaps to dreams in the middle of work duty. Lost fingernails, a sleeping sickness that plagued the family, and a breakup, manages to contend with the already cluttered format of this new portal in literature. Well, not really cluttered - a consciously arranged clutter is more like it. Snippets of somebody else’s life preserved in digital form and guised in clean literature is just the cherry on top of a gigantic scoop of delectable ice cream. This delectable ice cream is the hyperlinking of all the deposited literary pieces within the matrix of Project Crumbs. The interwoven world of click and read and scroll and click again becomes the fun in the whole confusion of being lost in the middle of it all. The creative backdrops and labels are worthy of print on shirt fronts and laptop skins. The colors are spectacularly kiddy which teases the user/reader into clicking right away. Reading topics about the bites of reality ties it to the ground of reasonable readability. What this means for mere mortals is that it allows readers to experience what the writers experienced in real life (If at all, everything they have written really happened). Something approachable like their content allows for that connection readers oftentimes look for in the pieces they read. The arrangement also helps a lot. There was this book I read a long time ago that had choices at the bottom of every page, asking the readers to choose what will happen to the characters. Once they’ve chosen, there a page number leads them to what they chose would happen next. This isn’t exactly what Project Crumbs gives, but the interactive approach to the dynamics of telling stories is essentially similar in both. The exploration of possibilities in the shaping of what is being taken in brings about a curiosity in part of the unfolding of what’s within. However I must admit that the only drawback to such a magnificent form of literature is its limitation to computer screens and the internet. The glare of the screen may become too unbearable for one engrossed in clicking hyperlinks all over the screen. The mobility of such a type of literature is also hampered by the same limitations.
But in the name of good literature, this experiment broke new grounds for being the causative agent of exploration, tinkering with all the unlimited possibilities of literary expression.
Going back on track, the unifying intent of Project Crumbs is to showcase literature to the internet public - and their ability to edit and design the site, too. A brainchild of two people who weaved the stories they made about their sometimes daily excursion in the metro into something a little bit organized, Project Crumbs slowly simmered its way into public consumption. Albeit quirky, the interesting concept pursued new heights in conventional literature. What once were a myriad of written stories cluttered deep in hard drives, and imagined combination of colors and objects and what not became this structure, a sort of interactive adventure to somebody else’s literary folds.
