They were bundled quite warmly. Thick black coats with fur-lined hoodies, ugg boots over thin leggings, and some ragged pieces of bright cloth bursting from between skin and coat which do not look like part of any outfit designed for people - red lacy strips, fleshy protrusions...
"It won't take long."
"It's so cold." Vapor escaped from their mouths.
"Where are we going?"
"It doesn't matter. Just come with me."
They walked briskly in the morning cold fog along the creepy promenade, lit only by a few scattered streetlights. "We need to go back. I'm scared."
"No. You have to come see this."
"See what?"
"He broke up with me. And I'll give it to him this time."
"What are you saying? Are we going to his house?"
"Yes."
"But it's in the middle of nowhere!"
"Exactly. No one will find out."
"Find out what? You're scaring me, Lisa. You know what, he's not even worth it. Let's just go back and talk about this."
"Come on." Lisa grabbed Emily's arm.
"What are you doing?" Emily writhed her arm but Lisa was determined to drag her all the way. "What is wrong with you? Just get over it! He's over you, Lisa."
Lisa staggered and faced Emily, "I'm pregnant! He can't do this to me! I'm going to kill him son of a bitch," She said, her voice getting high-pitched before she just dropped on the cold asphalt and cried. "I'm a fucking idiot!"
All the while, Emily still couldn't get a grasp of what she heard. She was just standing there, and then she saw Bill walking from afar.
