A hefty weekend

To keep with my want for consistency and my self-imposed task of writing about my adventure, I must also write about something that happened to me this weekend.

If you must know, I'm a Filipino living and breathing the complex urban jungle of Tokyo. I'm not here for work, as some of you might assume. I am actually here to study. And with it comes the struggle of school work and the social life. I have been here for a little over 3 months now, and most of that time was spent buried in books and drenched in the kanji (Japanese writing system based on Chinese characters) I'm trying to learn to supplement the little survival Japanese I know. That goes to say that I haven't had enough time to really see see Japan yet. Although I was able to go to some places already, my goal is to see the whole of Japan. Quite ambitious of me, don't hate.

So my weekend was pretty much scheduled around lazing around and reading. I do all the things around here. I often wonder how I can do all these things at 20. In between working and cooking, internet breaks happen. I check my facebook to see how people are faring back home, or see if my Tokyoite friends have anything planned. I check my email inboxes for word from my professors or messages from my foreign classmates and what not. I went with Mark, this English chap who lives next door, to Shinjuku. Evgeny also came. Mark went Christmas shopping for things he wants to send to his family. All I managed to buy was this pretty Christmas card. I'm going to send it to my family back home. Then yesterday out of nowhere, I decided to finally order that book I've been eying for so long in amazon.co.jp. So I did, and I payed for it today. It had a hefty price tag, but it's my Christmas gift to myself. I don't mind. :)
